HR Generalist (m/w/d)

We're hiring our first HR Generalist to build and run the operational backbone of HR at Hades. This is a hands-on role covering payroll, contracts, onboarding, and compliance — the day-to-day functions that keep a growing deep-tech team running smoothly. You'll work closely with the founding team and the talent lead and be the first point of contact for all things HR.

This role doesn't require senior-level experience. We're looking for someone reliable, organized, and eager to grow the function as the company scales.

What You'll Do

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with German labor law
• Draft, issue, and administer employment contracts and amendments
• Own onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires
• Maintain personnel files and HR records in compliance with German data protection requirements (GDPR/BDSG)
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions on benefits, leave, and HR policies
• Track and administer employee benefits programs
• Help establish and document HR policies and processes as the team grows
• Liaise with external providers (tax advisors, social insurance, benefits providers) as required

What We're Looking For

• Completed vocational training or degree in HR, business administration, or a related field
• 2–5 years of experience in an HR generalist, HR administration, or payroll role in Germany
• Working knowledge of German labor, payroll, and social insurance law
• Experience with HR/payroll software (e.g., Personio, DATEV, or similar)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken), preferably fluent in German (written and spoken)
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing confidential information
• Comfortable working independently and building processes from scratch in a startup environment

Nice to have:

• Experience setting up HR processes at an early-stage startup
• Familiarity with visa/work permit processes for international hires
